Sudoku apps mostly fail on everything except the sudoku. Open Sudoku is notable for how little it does beyond the puzzle itself.
No adverts, no sign-in
There is no interstitial between grids and no account to create. For a game people play in two-minute gaps, that absence is the feature.
Puzzles are a folder, not a purchase
Grids are organised into folders you can extend by importing external sets. That means the supply is not capped by what shipped in the build, and you are not being metered.
Enough assistance, not too much
It tracks solve times and completion stats, and offers hint strategies for a stalled grid. Several input modes make pencil-marking candidates practical rather than fiddly.
